Pacific Union’s Best Sonoma County Bike Routes and Restaurants

Although the Bay Area’s wet, windy winter is likely waiting in the wings, Indian summer has extended into mid-November, particularly in inland areas of Sonoma County.sonoma_bikersm

Like neighboring Napa County, Sonoma is best known for its rolling vineyards and wineries, but there is also plenty to attract outdoor enthusiasts and foodies  — and those who happen to be both.

A jaunt to Sonoma County could be an ideal way to soak up the Northern California sun, get some exercise, and have a memorable meal before the frantic holiday season and winter weather hit. Whether you’re a Bay Area local taking a day trip to the Wine Country or a visitor from afar, you’re sure to enjoy our local real estate professionals’ suggestions for the top cycling routes and restaurants that Sonoma County has to offer.

Annadel State Park

A variety of bicycle trails will take you through the hills for a short outing or on an all-day journey. Need a treat? Pack a lunch and have a picnic at Lake Ilsanjo.
Address: 6201 Channel Drive, Santa Rosa

Baci Cafe & Wine Bar

The owners are super-friendly, and the pasta and pizza dishes are to die for. Outstanding service and atmosphere — and don’t miss the lobster ravioli.
Address: 336 Healdsburg Ave., Healdsburg

Dry Creek/Alexander Valley

This is the perfect Wine Country ride for cyclists of all levels. Vineyards dot both sides of this mostly flat route, and the general store is great for refueling.
Address: Start at Healdsburg City Hall, 401 Grove St., Healdsburg

Healdsburg Bar and Grill

The veggie burger is amazing, and the sweet potato fries with chipotle aioli (not on the menu — insiders know to ask for it!) are delicious. Top it all off with a creamy milkshake.
Address:  245 Healdsburg Ave., Healdsburg

King Ridge Road

This tough and remote ride may be the most beautiful in the North Bay, capturing everything from rolling hills to redwood forests to coastal views.
Address:  Start at Moscow Road, Monte Rio

The Spinster Sisters

Try a fascinating variety of options from kimchi to Madras curry to duck eggs; there is a nice beer selection, with two different IPAs, and a wine list.
Address: 401 South A St., Santa Rosa

Spring Lake Loop Trail

Spring Lake is a wonderful spot for a shorter (four-mile) ride that’s not too extreme, with plenty of shade. Getting hot? Take a dip in the lagoon.
Address: Howarth Park entrance, 630 Summerfield Road, Santa Rosa

Willi’s Wine Bar

This spot boasts a roadhouse vibe, with nice outdoor seating, wine offerings from small vintners, and a great fusion appetizer menu. The seasonal small plates are great to share!
Address: 4404 Old Redwood Highway, Santa Rosa
